Karst Saints

A fine art exhibition on what it means to be formed by God. Philippians 1:6 nkjv …”being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” In this body of work I explore what its like to walk through life as a Christian by using karst mountains a metaphor for sanctification. Each painting is created by first wetting the surface and then blotting mineral watercolors while the surface is still wet. After the paint dries, I use a permanent ink liner to define the mountains representing the formation of an individual. Different trials and seasons shape a believer through their walk with Christ much like water and erosion shape a landscape. Each karst is then defined by a wash of paynes grey ink to set those experiences apart from the background, creating an atmosphere of perseverance. Every story is different. However, when our lives are defined by Christ, every journey points upward to God.
